Guest Designer for Wish On A Scrap

As some of you already know, Kim of Crafting for Sanity was the lucky winner of the premiere contest kit offered at Wish On A Scrap. All you have to do is purchase the kit & submit one of your creations using the kit to enter into the contest. It is that easy for an opportunity to win the following month's kit for free! Kim did an amazing job with her kit, showcased her work, and won the July Contest Kit.

I asked Kim if she would be my guest designer for the month of July to show off her new work with the July kit. I was delighted when she agreed =) Kim has been very busy with her kit and has made some really beautiful cards. Kim is super creative and even made an adorable little bag. Check out her stuff:

Card Box Holder, Cards, & Envelopes

I created this little set as a thank you gift for a friend. I used the Chloe Marie Daisy D Collection paper & Bazzill bling paper for the holder & cards. I used Georgia Pacific paper from Walmart to make the envelopes.

To make the card box, I followed this awesome tutorial on Dawn's Stamping Thoughts. I really cannot get enough of this woman's blog. Her directions are so easy to follow & she is so creative =)

On my box lid, I used the Fiskar's Treading Water Punch along the edges. These punches sold out of my store so fast, but I should have them back in stock very soon =)

My cards are a little different; I made my cards smaller and they are 4x4. I also used Stampendous Dot Sparklers in Silver to accent the beautiful paper. I wanted these notecards to be useful for just about anything and that is why I did not stamp them with a sentiment.


To make the envelopes, I used my Scor-Pal. My envelopes are made out of paper that measures 5 1/4" x 10". I scored the envelopes at 4" and 8 1/4", and also on both sides at 11 1/2" when the paper is flush to the right side of the board. Altered Tins & USB Drive Holder

I have always admired the altered tins with the paper pads inside of them. I always wondered where do you find paper to fit inside the tins? Well, I still dont have that answer, but I can show you how to cut the paper down to size.

Supplies you will need:

• Small Paper Pads (I got the recycled ones from Staples)


• DVD Tin


• A razor (be careful!)


• A straight edge - I used my Tim Holtz Design Ruler

I first measured the paper inside the tin to see where I should make my cut. I then lined up my straight edge with the line on the paper and cut through the sheets of paper. I had to go back and forth several times and use a bit of pressure to get through the entire stack of paper. The paper pad is then ready to be decorated and placed in the tin.

I decorated the DVD tin and the paper pad with Daisy D Paper. I inked the edges of the paper before adhering the paper with my taperunner. I put tiny buttons on top of the pink polka dots as accents. I covered the inside of the tins too.
I also created a little holder for a USB drive out of Small Hinged Top Tin. I have seen these done with Altoid style tins, but I made my holder with a smaller version of that style tin. I found the USB drives to fit inside this tin at Costco (which is a price club discount warehouse in NY).
I also customized my USB drive with the same paper.
